The video ‘Past the Time Between’ originates from the feeling and the interest in a sudden flooding, a kind of dam burst. This reflects a a human condition how emotions and thoughts can flood you. It’s also shows the infinite seesaw of balancing inner paradoxes and the approach of one's inner thoughts to the outer world. As with thinking processes, ‘Past the Time Between’ is the result of many overlays and selections, but ultimately originates in a mathematical animation of a dam burst. The sudden escaping water mass becomes light dancing lines. With a slight time shift, the lines move towards each other and almost magnetically away from each other again.
Regarding the topic and courageous appeal 'Room Of One’s Own' by Virginia Woolf, my work is connected to the human need of independency and idiosyncrasy. Meaning to have the space and time to progress and also to fail. Having the possibility to have an inner dialogue in order to emancipate from mediocrity, established doctrines and shallow attention seeking behavior. We need space -literally and figuratively, physical and psychological, social and private, time and movement, now and when, real and idea-based, transmitter and recipient, see and saw.
