Intention
'Hansa Fest' drew my attention to the harbour area in Neuss.
The area combines relics of old, unused cranes and shipyard equipment, which co-exist with an increasingly vibrant harbour area. Smells of industrial activity come from paper, flour and oil factories.
My relationship with waterways is ambigous – as they capture transience, constant motion and upheavel- whereby the only constant is the constant movement – the water as a relentless force.
The use of inverted colours was used as a tool to represent what i perceive as one of the negative elements of the water. The other is too personal.
This work led to a deeper exploration of the harbour area, which i why i chose to submit this over potentially more interesting works.
