The Indomitable Tropic series discusses the concept of landscape and takes this study to the field of photographic experimentation, where the photographer uses analog photography and the juxtaposition of images, in order to create images that result in overlapping scenarios.
Calebe Simões builds images from fragments of tropical settings that connect him to the natural environment also found in Brazil, her country of origin.
The photographer understands that the landscape is a representation built by the collective imagination and shares the same vision as the geologist Joan Nogué, who affirms that the landscape asks to be interpreted as a social product, as the result of a collective transformation of nature and as the cultural projection of a society in a certain space and that also not only shows us what the world is like, but is also a construction, a composition, a way of seeing it.
* P.D. The images do not suffer any digital interference, they are the same as in the original negatives.
