‘Hope’ project is devoted to crisis and emotinonal/artistic block of a person due to the physical isolation. On the one hand, technological development allows to break the boundaries of possibilities – opportunities to communicate, consume and produce value are almost limitless.
However current isolation has clearly shown us our dependence on our physical condition. Limitation of only parameter – space (even more limited for big cities inhabitants) triggers severe personal crisis, even if there is no lack in other needs (access to food, comfort living, communication, content). Opposed to the trend of future life virtualization, staying alone with only technologies has caused severe feelings of hopelessness and senselessness.
And that questions the dream of virtual future, at least for a while.
Project addresses two aspects:
Emotional condition. Routine and repetitiveness of existence, lack of any physical changes at all (left side of the installation). Space limitation causes emotional stress.
Artistic block. Crisis of creation and creativity – lack of existence sense in a spiritual way (right side of the installation). More interesting, physical limitation also triggered creativity crisis, as inspiration is tightly connected with our impressions, and technology couldn’t substitute them to the full scale.
Project offers a solution to such condition – it is in keeping doing art, as it helps oneself to define and share the hope of positive changes. That is why there is a caption ‘Hope’ in the right side of the installation – it is barely seen, but it is vital and a partial answer to the situation we’re facing.
