Video and Screenshots from the artist herself by making hula-hoop. The artwork was created in 2020.
This artwork deals with female ideal-typs, influences and impacts from the media and the mediated world, and a toy that was redefined by people itself and by the striving for the perfection.

the body is the most intime place that a human being can withdraw her or himself. It is the center of the soul, of the health, the energy and is the comfort zone. this comfort zone can be distorted by influences that focus on ideal typs of bodies. my work is related to two different impacts that made me want to create this video: the first is a personal redefinition i made with the hula-hoop. as a child i used to do hula-hoop very often and with a lot of fun. later on, in my teenage years, i noticed that there were some lifestyle- and fitnesstrends upcoming that promised a super thin, sexy and idealtyped female waist by using special hula-hoops and by "burning" the waist away. this trends were shown in several media and had especially in girls heads a great impact. from that moment on, i saw this once fun-giving item as a tools to "hammer" the body. it goes like a loop to hammer on the:
body body body body body body body body body body body body body body body body.
first of all the video shows the artist (me) who is not successfull with the hula-hoop and has to repeat it. at the very beginning the first failure is with a black screen (so it is not seen), but the sound of the falling is on. so there is some kind of concealment of failure. later on, you can see the second failure with the video and the artist shows it openly. then the beat starts and the word body is written all over the screen. this is related to the hammered body.
the video is taken in my intim and personal homeplace, just like users of hula-hoop do that too, because this is a movement that ashame many people in public and that is practised in the fitness-center or at home.
the fotos are screenshots from the video, which show the word body "stabbing" the stomach of the artist. at the same time, the artists body is more and more blurred and in the most blurred foto even distorted. this is a symbol of the unhealthy and unnatural way of forming the body just because of the striving for perfection and as well a symbol of the distancing from the body as a comfort zone.
