“Every day, global warming burns the skin on the back on my neck, making me itch with physically discomfort and inner anxiety. Evolution unfolds in my genome as my cells divide and mutate, as my body clones itself..”
Timothy Morton
The "Viscosity" images are the first phase of a larger series. On the shaped canvas, a sublimation print of an analog photo is superimposed. The photos show details of withering plants, distorted during digitization. Latex material is placed on the back with an artificial color reminiscent of the plant in the photo. In pseudo-images, the viscosity and elongation mix with the frame. Genetic engineering, biohacking, raises the question of how long we can reach into the process of nature with impunity. We desire perfection and we produce it artificially.
