Marília Scarabello_ UNTITLED [BRAZIL]

UNTITLED [Brazil] is a work in progress that presents itself as a series of photographs of a soap at different times of use.
The work started in mid-march, coinciding with the beginning of the quarantine in the state of São Paulo in Brazil.
Every morning after washing my face with the soap, I photograph her current condition at the bottom of the sink. What I have been recording is its degradation. The process will only end with its complete disappearance. In this open call, I present some images that are approximately 30 days apart, covering 70 days of work.
The soap is a metaphor for the Brazilian nation, for a territory that over the last few years has been degrading in countless ways. The pandemic context has only further accelerated this process.
