“Snakes” originates from the larger media installation “we are already history, and we don´t know it”. The brain is the central subject of this body of work, where multiple moving image works and an augmented reality application inspect the nature and function of the central organ of our nervous system and its parallels in digital technologies.
The abstract is assembled with the figurative in a typical manner and creates immersion spaces that oscillate between the physical and virtual spheres. Idealized representations of objects reminiscent of organic structures, human cells, microorganisms as well as artificial landscapes are superimposed on abstract patterns. The materiality of the computer-generated imagery flows effortlessly between the organic and the synthetic, pointing to a hybrid future, in which the analogue and the digital spheres have merged.
