Description
This artwork seeks to map empty spaces: gaps, breaches, intervals, distances, flaws, clearings. Thus, constructing imaginary maps that try to access presences and, mainly, their absences.
Relation to Open Call:
The human being is not the only subject in the world. The opposite view is a great foundation for this abyss-progress. Everything is in relation.
Imaginary maps. We create our own cartography. Me and the Other. The Other subject. The Other Mountain, the Other Animal, the Other Desert.
I think of Potosí, and “Cerro Rico” or Sumaq Urqu colored with so much gunpowder. The logic of using and discarding or invading, extracting, and disappearing. It is still possible to map these absences, they are written on these images.
The practice of getting out of yourself and finding the other. Lines, veins, scars, spots, expression marks. Ley Lines (magical alignments of landforms). Ashes are important, they can become fertilizer when mixed with the soil. It is from the ashes that the new is born.
We learn from our surroundings.
