Description:
The video is based on the reflections accompanying artistic residences on the Greek island of Lefkada and Portuguese Azores. The project was created based on virtual landscapes from computer games and on digital distortions that often come with games. Fascinated by modern information technologies and their incredible potential to shaping lifestyles I tried to answer the question of how to authentically capture the rich duality of physical and virtual life we now experience.
The video inspired by virtual landscapes presents one of the ways in which we try to achieve a state of internal balance in the era of information overload. Despite technological progress, virtualization, and digitalization of reality, or perhaps because of them, we are looking for rituals and spiritual practices that will allow us to reach a state of deep awareness or at least simulate it.
In the video I used a text written by myself prepared based on popular guided meditations on YouTube channel, which listening to is supposed to help to calm down, relax and achieve the dreamed effects on various aspects of life. Choosing the contemporary visual alphabet and looking at one of the most classic themes – the landscape – I tried to present a strong desire for relaxation and rest, very common in the overloaded digital age.
