This work investigates the phenomenon of worldwide shipping and logistics with a focal point on the shipping container through an abstract narrative. The container changed the world into an Amazon delivery route, and has profound implications into the future. This piece features computer generated imagery of human exclusion zones. These are industrial places that are completely controlled by AI systems, and already are installed throughout the world. Additionally, interspersed in this narrative there is a simulation of a disaster at sea with shipping containers littered across the ocean. A voiceover narrates and the diminishing role of the human in this system. It also highlights how our sensory organs are responsible for our conscious representation of reality and perception of the passage of time, and the incompatibility our system has with the machinic sense of time. This work was funded by the CBK Rotterdam O&O program.
