BCC is a series of landscape drawings in different colours. The artist prefers to define the work as low-tech.
The drawings are made with transfer paper in a limited colour palette. The transfer paper relativates media in its most simple and manual form.
The locations are collected through the apps Google Earth ,Google Maps and other photos and are drawn out of their context.Through the technique of hachurage(shading)volumes and surfaces of buildings and territorial details are processed on the paper and combined to form an ‘abstraction’.
Gradually the coloured shapes form an ensemble which once again in a larger combination present an ‘abstract’ constellation of forms and shapes’.
The artist selects the locations on the basis of personal memories, travels, current topics, history, advertisement and film: in short both personal and collective preferences:conscious and unconscious streaming of stress produced by all sorts of media.
It is essential that the drawings result in a new kind of ‘horizontal landscape’;that is to say, the different locations are equally important and therefore tend to strand in one ‘ultimate’ location:that of man in the universe.
One location simply cannot look more important than another. They all exist on the same level.
They function as pieces of a large mosaic. For instance a gold club in Karachi aligned with Central Park next to Aleppo or Twitter Offices.
If however one location would seem to be more important than another, then it would be for completely different reasons:that of a drawing compared to another drawing.
