The idea of heaven is strongly linked to a concept of a certain kind of natural environnement.
The Eden garden is imagined to be a space of natural profusion.
However, our relationship with nature is quite the opposite.
The last spaces where nature can thrive are viewed as dangerous, unsafe, and wild.
Our predecessors have made a lot of attempts to domesticate the rainforests and that results in destroying their fragile balance.
As we now see them disappear, we witness the lost of an ideal, the Eden garden is turning black.
From my physical experience with the Amazon rainforest, I have extracted it's lights and shapes in an attempt to preserve this space's mystics.
inspired by the vision biological process:
a luminous signal is caught by the retina and transformed to a chemical/electric signal to be interpreted by the brain.
I used my digital camera to capture the lights of the rainforest, I the turned them to electric signals on my computer. Then they became chemicals with a mixing of products turned into oil paint, to be interpreted on a black canevas.
