It’s tech time! The future is decentralized

In the Tech-Art-Late-Night-Show of previous.nextmuseum.io, innovative technologies are brought to life. Host Prasanna Oommen leads the audience online through the event and is musically accompanied by the Nine Deadlines, impulse lectures from various disciplines convey new technologies in a vivid and amusing way. Digital prototypes, technical experiments and tools will be presented and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas in a Q&A session afterwards. This time, it’s no less than the future formation of the internet and what potential developments such as the metaverse, NFTs and DAOs can mean for art and culture. The event will be held in English on Zoom.
Speakers
Rhea Myers is an artist, hacker and writer originally from the UK now based in British Columbia, Canada. Her work places technology and culture in mutual interrogation to produce new ways of seeing the world as it unfolds around us. This June Rhea’s book “Proof of Work. Fabu (Fabian Burghardt) is part of a Berlin-based team of Art, Tech, 3D, and Blockchain enthusiasts building the world’s first decentralized NFT Museum: The vision of Musee Dezentral is to revolutionize the ways in which people experience art. They are passionate about using the latest 3D technology to create immersive browser-based experiences that project the user into an alternate reality. The team has a long history of building metaverse projects. For example, they built a virtual club RAVE SPACE, as well as the 3D museum for The Greats, by Hashmasks.
Aude Launay is an independent researcher, writer and curator trained as a philosopher. A significant part of her writings and exhibitions deals with the influence of the Internet (as a hyperobject more than as a technical tool) and advanced technologies on contemporary art and society. For the past five years, her research focus has been on crowdsourced and distributed decision-making through algorithmic and blockchain-based processes. More generally, Aude is interested in ethics and in art that interferes with the power mechanisms underpinning governance structures.
Damjanski is an artist living in a browser and will be co-host and tech-side-kick for the event. Concerned with themes of power, poetry and participation, he explores the concept of apps as artworks. In March 2022, he published his first decentralized app (dapp) “Unhuman Compositions“. It’s a collection of 777 participatory generative photography NFTs – each generated when a person takes a photo with the camera of their smartphone. The work invites people to explore the abstraction of our physical world through a generative algorithm. His work has appeared internationally, including exhibitions at NRW-Forum, König Galerie, Roehrs & Boetsch, Pioneer Works, MoCDA, Tropez, Import Projects. Currently Damjanski resides in New York.
